Astute viewers will notice a few small details: A sign says Glastenbury was chartered in 1799. (The real town was created in 1761. Close enough?) At the local chamber of commerce office, watch for a framed certificate from the "Vermont Historic Preservation Society" that says Glastenbury has been named "the most Christmassy place on earth."

The elves over at Hallmark certainly think so. EW has learned that Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has added another new original movie, Last Vermont Christmas, to its slate, bringing the total on both Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and Hallmark Channel to an eye-popping 37 flicks. (The previous record was 33, which the network set last year.)
Whilst their daughter, Audrey (Catherine Corcoran), may have returned home when she dropped out of college, Daniel (Jim O'Hare) and Peggy Marvin's (Ann Osmond) other daughters, have flown the nest and have lives of their own. It is why they have decided to sell the family home and relocate to Arizona which means this year will be their last Christmas together when all the family descend on the home to share on all their festive traditions. For Megan (Erin Cahill - Sleigh Bells Ring) and her daughter things take an interesting turn when she discovers that Nash (Justin Bruening - The Thanksgiving House), her high school sweetheart, is buying their home with a realtor with the intention of doing it up and flipping it. But as Megan and Nash spend time together they both realise that they still love each other. The question is whether Megan is prepared to love again having gone through heart break when her husband died?
Let me pick out the important things from the synopsis for "Last Vermont Christmas"; we have a single mum who is scared of falling in love again because of the pain she went through last time. Said single mum comes in to touch with her high school sweetheart and they still have feelings for each other. And we have a family who celebrate Christmas with a whole host of traditions such as cutting down a tree, making the decorations, going carolling and also a horse drawn carriage ride around town to see all the Christmas decorations. Those things combined along with some comedy of the youngest daughter not wanting the house sold makes "Last Vermont Christmas" little more than a routine and predictable Hallmark Christmas movie.
When TV presenter Gina (Sophie von Haselberg) announces that this will be her last show as co-host as she is starting a family it means a slot has opened up on her daytime show next to co-host Veronica Daniels (Jackée Harry). Among ...
The big question everyone has when it comes to buying cross-country skis is wax or waxless? It can be a pain to wax, but waxless skis with their plastic fish scales tend to be noisy and slow. The waxless Atomic Sport Pro Skintec ($449) has a new take on old tech: it uses a short ribbon of replaceable synthetic mohair in the kick zone to give you grip on the uphills. These skis are surprisingly fast and responsive, with enough grip to make climbing a breeze and going downhill even breezier.
Jackie Hobbs loves the job that lets her travel the world attending comic conventions and playing games, until it prevents her from reaching her mother before she passes away. As an only child with no core group of friends to depend on, she dreads a lonely Christmas. The last thing she wants is to go to Vermont as her mother planned, but it's the only way to get the letters her mother left her.
Back home, I learned, power was out all over town (as I write, over a week later, it still is in spots) and I had two trees down across the driveway. I silently cheered the decision, last summer, to install an emergency generator, as well as my good fortune to have a son-in-law with a chain saw and a plow truck. It appeared that, unlike many of my neighbors who were sitting tight during the heavy winds, we would be spared the worst of the effects.
In Nahant, the combination of an unusually high tide, a storm surge and heavy surf submerged the causeway during the day. The town was effectively marooned. But the power, heat and water were still working, and there was enough in the refrigerator, as my friend likes to say, to last us till at least August. The house is over 100 years old and has seen a storm or two in its time. So we stayed put, snug as bugs in a rug, and even planned to attend the Christmas Eve service at the local community church. 041b061a72
